Supporting Children and Families

At Grafton Primary School, we believe that children learn best when they feel happy, safe and supported. Every child is unique, and we know that there are times when children – and their families – may need a little extra help. Whatever the challenge, we are here to listen, to understand and to work alongside you.

Pastoral care is at the heart of our school community. It reflects our values of Love, Kindness, Inclusion, Resilience, Creativity and Empowerment, ensuring that every child feels seen, valued and encouraged to flourish both in and beyond the classroom.

Supporting Every Child

Our dedicated Pastoral Care Manager, Camilla Jarvis, works closely with children, families and staff to ensure that every child has the support they need to reach their full potential.

Whether a child is finding school difficult, experiencing friendship worries, struggling with confidence or facing challenges at home, Camilla provides a caring, consistent point of contact for families. She also coordinates our Early Help provision, working with parents, carers and external agencies to ensure support is available at the earliest opportunity.

Sometimes all that's needed is a listening ear, a conversation or practical advice. Whatever your concern, you are never alone – we're here to help.

Attendance and Punctuality

Every school day matters. Regular attendance helps children build friendships, develop confidence and make the most of every learning opportunity.

If attendance becomes a concern, our approach is always supportive rather than judgemental. We work in partnership with families to understand any barriers that may be affecting attendance and, together, develop practical plans that help children return to school feeling confident, settled and ready to learn.

Early Help

Sometimes families benefit from additional support during periods of change or difficulty. Early Help is about offering that support before challenges become bigger problems.

By identifying concerns early and working together, we can help children and families access the right advice, guidance and services at the right time.

All conversations are treated with sensitivity and respect. While we always maintain confidentiality wherever possible, any concerns relating to a child's safety will be managed in line with our Safeguarding and Child Protection procedures.

If you would like to speak with Camilla, please contact the school office to arrange a meeting. You'll also find her welcoming families at the school gates each morning and afternoon, where she's always happy to answer questions, offer reassurance or arrange a time to talk in more detail.
