The Beginning of Your Child's Grafton Journey

Starting nursery is a significant milestone, not only for children but for their families too. It is often a child's first experience of school, and we understand how important it is that they feel safe, happy and excited to learn.

At Grafton Primary School, our Nursery provides a nurturing, stimulating environment where children begin to develop confidence, curiosity and a love of learning through play, exploration and meaningful relationships.

We welcome applications throughout the year and are always happy to talk to families who would like to find out more about our Early Years provision.

Nursery Places for 3 and 4-Year-Olds

Our Nursery, Rainbow Class, is open Monday to Friday during term time.

We offer a range of flexible attendance options to support the needs of different families, including both 15-hour and 30-hour funded places for eligible children from the term after their third birthday.

15-Hour Provision

Families may choose from:

• Morning sessions – Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 12.00pm
• Afternoon sessions – Monday to Friday, 12.15pm to 3.15pm
• A bespoke 15-hour timetable agreed with the school (for example, two full days and one morning)

All children aged 3 and 4 are entitled to 15 hours of funded early education. To access this funding, parents simply need to complete the Parent Declaration Form so that we can claim funding on your behalf.

30-Hour Provision

Eligible working families may qualify for 30 hours of funded childcare.

Our full-time offer is:

• Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 3.15pm
• Where appropriate, additional hours between 15 and 30 hours may also be available at the school's published charging rates.

All nursery places are offered during school term time only.

If you believe you may be eligible for 30 hours' funding, you will need to apply through the Government's childcare funding service. Once approved, you will receive an eligibility code which should be provided to the school when confirming your child's place.

Please note that eligibility must be reconfirmed every three months. If your eligibility changes, your funded entitlement may return to 15 hours.

Nursery Places for 2-Year-Olds

Our 2+ provision offers younger children a warm, caring introduction to school life.

Sessions run Monday to Friday during term time.

• Morning: 9.00am – 12.00pm
• Afternoon: 12.30pm – 3.30pm (subject to availability)

Families may also be eligible for 15 hours of funded early education for two-year-olds.  Please check your eligibility here.

Childcare Funding

Many families can access Government-funded childcare support.

Depending on your circumstances, this may include:

• 15 hours funded childcare for eligible two-year-olds
• 15 hours funded childcare for all three and four-year-olds
• 30 hours funded childcare for eligible working families

Tax-Free Childcare

We encourage families to explore the available funding to find the option that best suits their circumstances.
